Process helper

How can a digital product help a digital agency speed up the process of delivering content and feedback?

A budget-friendly and fast digital agency sounds good, right? Despite that, it poses quite a few problems. De Onliners is such a fast and budget-friendly digital agency, which focusses on designing and developing websites. During my internship I was asked to devise and develop a product that should reduce the delay in the design process. This is the project with which I eventually graduated from the Communication & Multi-Media Design course at the University of Applied Sciences Amsterdam.

The problem

Research

To gain more insight into the target group, interviews were held with (6) De Onliners customers. This showed that 50% of the customers had little or no knowledge about/with websites. As a result, they enter the project unprepared and run into problems later on. For example, they find it difficult to create content that matches the structure of the website. They also need guidance in giving feedback, so that they know what to pay attention to.
To gain more insight into where this target group experiences problems in the context of the process, a Customer Journey has been created. By looking at how the two target groups (with or without experience) relate to each other, it will help with choosing which group will be targeted.
This clearly shows that the customers without experience experience significantly more problems during the process than the customers with experience. Because the difference between the two customer groups is so clear, this project focused on the group of inexperienced customers.

Design Challenge

“How can a digital interactive product intensively support Web starters during the process in creating content and providing feedback, so that De Onliners do not have to wait a prolonged time for it to be delivered, projects are prevented from getting stuck and the process is as smooth as possible for both parties?"

The concept

In consultation with the client and based on the insights from the target group research, it was decided to develop a product that enables users to provide their content and feedback. They receive concrete guidance and tips, and they can implement the delivery step by step. By means of various persuasion methods, the user is extra motivated to perform the given tasks.

Wireframes

The first version of this product has been developed by creating Hi-Fi wireframes. This version forms the basis for the structure and flow of the Process Helper. This creates a clear vision of the complete layout and functionality of the product. The structure and form of navigation is taking shape at this stage.

Key features

Dashboard

A dashboard is used as the central point of the Process Helper. In this dashboard the user can find all information during the process. The process is visualized step by step and supported by text. By showing the steps that need to be taken to achieve the goal, you motivate the user to take these steps.
The user is being informed of updates with use of notifications. When a deadline is approaching or De Onliners have conducted work, they will receive an e-mail notification. By adding a Call-To-Action in these emails, the user is motivated to take the action.
In short, the dashboard enables the user to perform all tasks, review them and provide the user with information.

Key features

Content delivery

One of the problems was the delivery of content. Because the customers did not have a clear idea of what the website would look like, they found it difficult to create appropriate content. The Process Helper helps the user with this. As soon as they arrive at the content delivery stage, they can write texts and provide content per page and section (which are defined in the intake). During this process, the entered data is automatically saved to prevent data loss and thus demotivation.

Key features

Providing feedback
